ITC first aid qualifications are accredited by the national qualification regulators in Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales. SQA, OfQual & HSE.
Scottish Qualification Accreditation
ITC Certificate in Outdoor First Aid - SQA. This qualification is built from 2 units:
- Unit 1 is the Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification
6 hours. Meeting HSE EFAW requirements - Unit 2 is the First Aid for Outdoor Incident Management Unit
10 hours. Together with the first unit keeps NGB Instructor awards valid
National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Accredited qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor First Aid Emergency Action (Unit 1)
8+ hours. Essential life-saving first aid for the outdoor environment - Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor First Aid (Unit 1 + Unit 2)
16+ hours. Keeps most National Governing Body Instructor Awards valid
ITC Accredited Qualifications:
- Emergency Incident Management similar to the level 2 OFA qualification with tailored content
16+ hours. Keeps most National Governing Body Instructor Awards valid - Advanced First Aid is a proactive 'advanced at the basics' qualification
18+ hours. For the professional Outdoor person who has previous first aid qualification experience
Keeps most National Governing Body Instructor Awards valid - Expedition First Aid is a 'bolt on' unit to either the Level 2 Outdoor First Aid or the Advanced First Aid units
Bugs, bites, bowels as well as injury and illness abroad.
Nornally delivered by a trainer with experience of the particular journey e.g. Amazon, Borneo, Desert.
ITC First Aid Providers approved to deliver SQA, NQF or ITC accredited qualiications all have an active interest and commitment to the outdoor environment, understanding the issues, dilemmas and judgments required when dealing with incidents in potentially hostile remote environments, making the training highly relevant to those whose work or leisure is in these environments.
These providers have to follow a rigorous training programme, demonstrating competency to deliver and knowledge of the sector.
